Finally got my hands on the 2016 ISO from work and am testing some upgrade paths on a VM which I actually need to scrap…

Hit the following error: “Existing SQL Server connections to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM databases must be closed before setup can continue.”

Solution was to stop the “Microsoft Dynamics CRM Asynchronous Processing Service” – Either through services.msc or run cmd as administrator and run: NET STOP MSCRMAsyncService

Re-tried and it worked 🙂
